Anne is an extraordinary immersive exhibit on the life and legacy of Anne Frank.  Anne’s story, told in her own words, comes to life through rare artifacts, unique documents, and photographs.  Visitors view a facsimile of her famous diary and several other examples of her original writing that culminated in what has become one of the most famous and well-read books ever.

Jeff was honored to be chosen by the leadership at the Museum of Tolerance to write a comprehensive curriculum for The Anne Frank Exhibit at The Simon Wiesenthal Center Museum.  The curriculum is in-press right now and will be available soon, so stay tuned to www.jeffsapp.com.

SNEAK PEEK!

My idea for the Anne Frank curriculum is to base it on her famous diary.

Each page on the left will be an excerpt and primary document from her

diary and, on the right side, students will be asked to either write something

in response to Anne or scrapbook something into the pages as well.  The idea

is to make the diary mirror Anne’s and dig deep into what she was going through.

Students will use the pages on the right to connect personally to the story and, thus, connect to major themes of the Holocaust - themes of courage, community, commitment, ordinary people, the power of words, personal responsibility, social and community engagement, and democracy.  In the end, students will have a personal journal that I hope they’ll keep forever, holding in their hearts the inspiring words of this remarkable young girl.

Here is a mock-up of a couple of pages from the curriculum.
