Children's Literature

Jeff has done national work in the area of literacy and children’s literature for the last twenty-four years.  He authored the Story Corner section of Teaching Tolerance Magazine during his tenure at The Southern Poverty Law Center.  Story Corner offers educators and young children a folk tale, fable, fairy tale, or parable that highlights the transformative power of people (and animals) working for peace and justice.  His first children’s book, Rhinos & Raspberries, won the Golden Lamp Award, the Association of Educational Publishers’ highest honor.  Jeff was also very fortunate to have Lois Lowry - two-time winner of the Newbery Medal for most distinguished contribution to American literature for children - write the forward to his first children’s book.

“When I grow up I want to be a children’s author.
